What should EGT temps be at?

Re: What should EGT temps be at?
All the claims on the fusion point of pure aluminum are irrelevant. No component of an engine is made from pure aluminum. Once allied with other elements, aluminum alloys have a much higer melting point.
I don't agree with the 4 probes or nothing argument. Of course, it's the best setup but an EGT, even with one single probe mounted on the hottest cylinder or on all 4, is still very usefull in determining when it's time to let off the throttle.
Feels good to see that EGt temps are pretty standard from car to car....
I own a H22A turbo @ 20 psi.
Partial thr: 1350 F
WOT: can climb up to 1500F if I hold it for a while. That's when I decide to let off.

Say, what AFRs do you run to hit 1500 deg F single cylinder EGTs on extended pulls? What's your MBT at 20 psi?

The instructions say for turbo applications to put it 1-2 inches from turbo OUTLET, take a look.

There is a pressure-enthalpy conversion across the turbine wheel that drops EGTs several hundred deg F. Expect 800 deg F MAX after the turbine. Expect not to know anything important from having this information.

Also a pain in my *** to drill through a cast iron manifold, so I settled drilling a few inches from the outlet. I just need to know that its is a 100-200 degrees cooler than if it was at the inlet of the manifold. Besides I got thermal wrapping! haha!
