what kind of turbo do i have????

i was wondering what kind of turbo i have...i think it is a 14b but i am not sure. the numbers read - TRO 759 and its a GARRET. the compressor says that it is a .48 and on the exhaust housing it reads .49 . and it doesnt fit up to a t3 flange. i think it came off of an eclipse.

also what is the difference between a 14b and a t25? thanks

by chance does your turbo look like this?

My guess is a T25 off a 2g DSM.

t25 is slightly smaller than a 14b.

ya it looks like that...what are the stock wastegates set at? is this a decent turbo for a b18b (integra LS) motor? when do you think i will hit full spool? 2500rpms?

Re:what kind of turbo do i have????

A t-25 is considerably smaller than a 14b, The 14b and the t25 both have internal wastegates set at 8psi (11-12psi with the stock EBS)

A t25 on a B18b is going to spool incredibly fast, these things spin really fast on D-series, will it work? yup.. The B18b doesnt need to rev high to make power, plus with this turbo being small its really going to die out on the top end on a ls. I'd look for something bigger, but if not it will work.

well this is just a start. when do you think that the turbo will die out? my rev limiter is set at like 7000rpms. do you think i will have full boost until i hit redline? thanks

Re:what kind of turbo do i have????

It will have no problem making full boost, and holding it all the way to redline, however every turbo ls I have ever done is really peaky, even with a fairly decent sized turbo. Meaning they peak HP out real low around 45-5000ish and then just fall. It's mainly head design and camshafts that wont let it breath on the top end.

Heres a dyno chart of a LS with a decently sized T3 @ 10psi, see how it peaks out pretty fast? You wont need to rev it that high to make power.

Re:what kind of turbo do i have????

so then i would have to shift pretty much right at 6000rpms?

i'd get bigger cams and port out the head some in the future. the turbo will work since the engine on its' own doesn't make power til redline. if you want power til redline=bigger turbo+cams, port and polish.

Re:what kind of turbo do i have????

i have a tiny turbo on my ls, i dont even take it to redline. u can feel the power til a certain rpm and it feels like it pulls harder when i shift around 5,500 or 6. only time i go above that when doing a burnout
