Default What kind of flange is this?

I'm having difficulty with this M10 turbo. I believe it's out of a late 80's early 90's saab and I just can't figure out what kind of flange it has. I'm trying to get it to hook up to my D16y8 civic with a cast iron manifold. Would I able to get a T3/T4 manifold and find an adapter plate somewhere?

---- that piece of ---- turbo with a razor embedded *****, and buy something that has proper flanges. First off, that is a tiny snail. Since both the exhaust inlet and outlet flanges are triangular oddball nonsense it's hard to say what frame it is at all, but I'd say T2. So that's an insta-fail. The bearing housing looks suspiciously T3, but maybe the T2 is just a smaller version. Or maybe it's a small GT series like GT15 or GT17. Backplate sure looks non-GT series. I'm too lazy to research and figure out what exactly it is. We can just assume it's too small.

Not to mention it's got a **** shaped compressor outlet that's bolt-on instead of slip fit. And to make matters worse, the compressor inlet is also oddball bolt on failure. You'd have to have those flanges custom made, or track down the stock inlet/outlet bits. That wouldn't solve the exhaust inlet/outlet dilemma though. I think those turbos are off a VW 1.8t, but maybe the newer Saab's run that garbage too. Either way it's not worth the effort for the results it'll produce. Sell it for ~$50 on Ebay and use that towards a good T3 or even 14b over that worthless thing.

It's definitely not off a late 80's or early 90's Saab though. They had T3's until early 90's and then Mitsu turbos. They went back to the smaller Garrett's (GT17 IIRC) in late 90's-early 2000's, but IDK from mid 2000-on with the V6 turbo and ----. I've seen a similar looking snail on a VW 1.8T before though. Only thing is your turbo has "9.3" written on it and that's a newer Saab model. Not the years you think though. ---- it, I'll go do your research and check back.

Ok it's a TBO304 off a Buick V6 most commonly, and a few other applications too. The reason for the odd compressor flanges is because it appears to have come from a carb'd engine. It looks like from the late 70's to mid-80's. Yours looks to be new or close to it, so keep it as an antique and run something better suited. Here are some links. Took about .001 second of search time and another 3 minutes of reading to track the info down. I thought it was from a VW before I researched, but while similar looking; the VW snails are made by KKK. Anyway, you're welcome, and GL with your search for a new turbo.

That's the stock intake pictured there ahahaha! GL trying to make that work lol. So custom flange only for comp housing. Such a pain in the **** to install that thing. You may be able to find another comp housing with slip-fit inlet/outlet, but again, that wouldn't solve the triangle gayboy flanges on the turbine housing.

Well ----. Thanks for your help! I got the turbo for $50 actually and it's in literally perfect condition so that's why I bought. Do you know if I could just swap the housings with something else? I'm not sure with what, but could I make it work that way? Like I said it's literally in perfect condition.

take the compressor cover off and measure the compressor wheel in its smallest and largest diameters.

The turbine feed is a flare fitting, which would be cake to adapt to a manifold with a drain trap style adapter, and the rest is not that hard to adapt to some lame little flange if you have a welder.

If its a 200whp turbo in the end, which it most likely is, I dont see why it wouldnt work on a dirty d setup.

Measure the wheels and then buy standard flanged housings. Make sure the compressor housing is slip fit on both inlet/outlet. I'm sure I have some housings you could have, but you'd have to measure the wheels to make sure they'd fit.

You know after I took the turbo about I just realized I don't know what I'm trying to measure. What do you mean wheels?
