What kind of boost can i get with stock pistons!
i have a 1992 Geo Storm Gsi 1.8l and... yes i know its Geo lol but the engine is made by Lotus. and it comes stock with 140Hp and 120Tq (Crank) and it comes with my geo Storm. my engines comes turboed but only in the Impulse and the Lotu si was wondering how much boost can do before i change mt pistons!

hook up a good boost gauge. throw a big turbo on it with no wastegate. and remember how much boost it took before you see pistons flying threw the hood. then......you know

1)what is your comp? and what feul are you using?
2)Then how much feul cn your injectors and pump supply and do you have a intercooler? good place to start.... |

Lotus has never made an engine worth a ----. If you do pursue this, start thinking outside the box. Megasquirt is your friend. Use parts from other oem turbo cars. Make ---- work. And post porn. |

Go find the turbo Impulse forum man. I know there is one, or look up turbo impulse or turbo Geo on CarDomain. I've seen builds of the engine, I BELIEVE, you are referring to, and it seemed to me some of those people were definitely getting alot of power out of those cars.

my compression is 9.7 my stock injectors are 222 and the fuel i will start to use it premium and i have a inercooler

i thought the head was designed by lotus, & also the suspension was tuned by them, or some ----, ohwell, GL on the build, google search any line about your build for about a week, you should come across some info :)

i just use premuium gas i dont know the octane.. and it si gonna be a daily driver so im not trying blow up my block! im just wondering how high fo boost i an go with with stock pistons

the guy has a point.
with no other information about the engine. on premium gas (98ron 93aki) and assuming that the thing wont fall apart, the best guess you could do if it started its life NA is 0 - 15psi, or if it started its life boosted, 15 - 25psi. way way way rough guesses though. you need to know a lot more about that engine. |

well i know alot about my engine but mine is a 1.8l DOHC and the turboed ones are 1.6l DOHC. i ws just wondering if my car can handle a little more boost then the 1.6l they handle 7Psi stock from the Lotus and the Impulse and my storm has the exact same engine but with a better block. and i just wanted other peoples opinions and a guy that knows eberything about my car said that i should not go past 8psi with stock pistons but if i use racing fuel with 110 Oct i cn go to 10!. i just wanted other people opinions!. and thign else i should know and

bigger injectors , fuel pump if you wish plus good tune 38.7psi
