what happend if?
-no compression accross all cylinders.
-engine ran (hardly) after putting oil in the cylinders, smoked a whole lot and blew the dip stick out of the hole.
-engine had enough oil.
-pulled head.
-head gasket looks fine.
-rings are holding oil in the cylinders. (not leaking, yet?)
-head is fine.
-pistons are fine.
-engine spins freely.
what happend:
boosting ~10psi, engine shut off quietly.
when i popped the hood, after it died, there was oil bubbling out around the o2 sensor and adapter plate. turbo has bad seals in it, was blowing burnt oil and water out of the o2 housing.
-14b turbo
-chipped ecu
-sohc zc ~50k miles
for the record i wasnt trying to run 10psi, but i was using a carb spring for wastegate and didnt realize it didnt need a whole lot of tension. the turbo was also spooling 5 psi around 2500 rmp.

Re:what happend if?
ok, oil isn't glittered with metal either. all cylinders are holding oil, not leaking past the rings.
haha...well i just took out my ecu, and saw i put the chip in backwards...wow, sometimes i amaze myself...
i'm taking a guess that the compression tester was bad also.

Re:what happend if?
Make sure the head is true, (not warped) also check the deck of the block for warpage. Flip the head upside down (level) and fill gas in the combustion chamber (valve area) and see if the valves leak. 0 compression is no good, it should be something obvious like head gasket/ weak rings etc.. May want to pop out just 1 piston to check it out.

Re:what happend if?
the compression tester was bad. it had something stuck in the valve. i put a new head gasket back on and got it all back together, but still no luck.
if i try to crank the engine with the chip in backwards several times, can it damage the ecu? i wouldnt think so, but it wants to start and then it goes flat.

Re:what happend if?
got a new compression gauge.
4 = 170
3 = 60
2 = 70
1 = 50
well i guess i'll find out tomorrow whats wrong with it. this will be the second time taking it apart during this xmas break.
btw, it was mobil 1 5w30 that wasn't leaking past the rings.
