They sell short pieces of that stuff in auto parts stores as "exhaust repair pipes". However, I have never heard of anyone using it as a DP.

 

PVC piping would work well too.


Nah!!! J/K, don't go out and try PVC. I don't think you can weld the flexable piping like you had questioned about. So for use as a downpipe, you would probably have to weld on a flange for the turbo... But see if anyone else has had any experiences with this stuf.

 

I bought a chunck of that stuff at Checkers for like $8. It works in a pinch, but it looks like ***.

i think i might use it as a dump pipe for my wastegate

i bought an 18" long piece of the 2.5 inch variety and i used it as my downpipe...i attached it using muffler clamps...reason for doing? I kept busting beautiful mandrel bent downpipes due to a lowered ride...these flexpipes only cost 11$, so i f i break it...i can replace it at minimal cost and in minimal time with minimal effort, as opposed to having to reweld, and refit a mandrel bend.

GO FOR IT!

 

Did you have any type of flex pipe in it when it was mandrel?
