what are you cali hmt guys running for exhaust?

how bad is it to run the stock cat?
if I got a good hiflo cat, would it still be as smog safe?

I'm thinking about a universal muffler, 2.5" piping, probly a resonator and a cat of some sort, mabye stock? depending on what you guys say, hehe.

any chance in hell of that passing smog??

It's all about your A/F miwture and cam timing. The actual smog test isn't hard to pass...It's pretty forgiving. Turbo Hondas can pass with a aftermarket cat...as long as your A/F's are in check and you pass the visual (make sure your EGR and charcoal canister are intact) Pull out your cotter pin on the wastegate so you don't make any boost and lean the car out and you should pass. What I do is just remove the turbo kit for a day every two years, take the test, then go back to gross polluting. Actually I probably ran cleaner than most brand new Fords...not bashing just seen their ppm, and it's high,stock.

still collecting parts, BUT

I might just end up taking it off for smog,
depends on how hard of a time I have installing it, heh,
I mean... if its the death of me, i'll probly not want to take it on/off every two years(doubt that though).

EGR - exhaust gas recirculation valve, puts exhaust in your intake air to burn more hydrocarbons

charcoal canister - activated charcoal readily adsorbs hydrocarbon vapor

both are gay emissons devices, look in your helms manual to find them, i dont know what car you have dumbass

 

I always thought that the charcoal canister collects fuel vapors when the car is off and returns them to the gas tank. maybe not. Dude get a Haynes manual, $12 at autozone....take it EVERYWHERE with you....school, work, funerals whatever. thats what I did in Highschool...read service manuals in class. it's worth it!

 

give in and sell your straight-through to buy a carb certified catback so the pigs quit harrassing you =P
