A vaccum would probably release the pressure in the crankcase better, but anything to do with the vacuum means running the oil vapors back through the motor. I'm sure if there is any excess pressure it will come out just fine if you give it two big holes. Any way you run a vacuum to it, it's running back throught the motor.

how long before i see some oil in the catch can? i've had it for 2 weeks already and so far no oil. i emptied out the pcv valve and connected it to the catch can which is below the pcv valve level and i ran a line from the catch can to the intake tube for vaccuume no oil comming outta the pcv system after about 40 miles of driving i guess.?

i don`t think u will see oil that quick if ur motor doens`t have too much blowby or u didn`t beat it hard enough

Just set up catch can today which is bascially an air compressor air/water seperator. I'll let you guys know how it works out.

I also thought the purpose of connecting the catch can to the PCV was to relieve the crankcase pressure. By hooking it to the intake arm is to decrease the crank case pressure. By hooking it up the valve cover doesnt do anything... <SHRUG> I'm still up in the air about this system as I have not done it yet.

omg.

for STARTERS that hole in the valve cover that goes to the intake tube is NOT the PCV, it's an AIR BREATHER/AIR INLET.

you can't just suck all the oil vapors out without replacing them with good air, hense the inlet...

set it up EXACTLY how it is in that pic, thats the proper way. and RETAIN the PCV Valve in its normal state.. just move the tubes to match the diagram.

the pcv valve should be emptied or hollowed. in the original diagram it says to replace the pcv valve with a 90 degree fitting, but emptying the pcv valve would be the same as a 90 degree fitting. i installed the catch can just like the diagram and i emptied out the pcv valve so air can flow freely through the pcv valve.

That's exactly how I did it...I decided it was not neccesary to hollow out the pcv as long as it pulled pressure out. I might try and hollow my spare one out to see if it makes a difference.

My valve cover breather is always blowing air. How is that an air inlet.
