Re: What can I use to make a gasket for the hot side of my turbo?
Thin copper pipe from HomoDepot. Cut one side straight through, roll out into a square, beat the ---- out of it w/ a hammer to widen it out, cut w/ dremel and tin snips, and finally coat w/ copper gasket spay. Done this twice to make a turbo/mani gasket and once for a DP gasket. Never leaked once. The can thing should work on as a DP gasket just coat w/ gasket spray. If you make a turbo/mani gasket w/ aluminum :l fist yourself.

There is like zero pressure there.. The exhaust is going to go the path of least resistance - that nifty 2.5-3 inch hole is probably the most likely path

You can use a paper gasket smothered in high temp RTV sealant. I've been using it for. Hmm. about a month now, and no leaks yet.

Re: What can I use to make a gasket for the hot side of my turbo?
yeah the pop can should work fine, very little pressure and its sandwhiched between flanges. As long as the flanges are pretty flat it should be fine. How do you think paper exhaust gaskets hold up? In some apps they work good...

Buy sheet copper and make a gasket using a combination of drill bits and a dremel with a 426 cutting wheel.
