I by-passed mine on the accord.
After I take it out of gear, it idles at around 1800 and drops down to about 300 and quickly goes back up to 750 or so. This all happens within about 4 seconds of taking it out of gear and coming to a stop.
If you don't mind the short periods of high idle and a sudden drop, then you'll be fine.

it's junk throw it away. I pulled it, I don't remember if it was the auto part, but it keeps the idle from plummeting when you put the car in neutral at high rpm. Completely unnecessary.

fitv in obd1 civics and all that is built into the throttlebody and has coolant lines running to it. Not the older b18a1s.
If the exact name is not the Fitv on these older motors, it doesn't matter. He doesn't need it on the car.
A long time ago i had a thread about this very piece. It's unnecessary.
You only need 3 things to run well. A Throttle position sensor, a Map sensor, and a the TDC sensor for the dizzy.
Take any 3 out, and your engine won't run.
If the exact name is not the Fitv on these older motors, it doesn't matter. He doesn't need it on the car.
