Went to the track today. Turbo Del Sol (D16z6) ~8.5psi

Best time was 14.3(just to keep everyone happy ;) ) @ 100.3mph Breaking 100mph was my goal for the night. Happy i did it.
2.464 60' (STOCK SUSPENSION )

I was running about 8.5-8.8 psi of boost. (my damn boost controller doesn't work right now . I wanted to run w/ 10psi) But for my first time at the strip, im DAMN happy.

Here's the breakdown....

R/T .770
60' 2.464
330 6.357
1/8 9.443
MPH 81.00
1000 12.073
1/4 14.317
MPH 100.3

Considering the bad 60' I was EXTREMELY happy with the time. The trap speed itself is good for mid-low 13's on slicks, and that's just on ~8.5psi. Can't wait to turn it to 10 and see what she'll do.

My goal was 13.9 on street tires BTW. Im pretty sure ill be close next time out on 10psi

Nice R/T. Were you asleep? Just playin. I love the track, the adrenaline rush is awesome. Hopefully I'll have some new boosted time slips within the next 2 weeks. I'm looking for 13's too.

Thanks guys! :) If anyone wants a scan of the timeslip LMK! Ill bust out the scanner. My next best trap was a 99.65mph w/ a 14.6 though :(.

Tire/jacks and stuff were removed from the trunk, interior bins and visors I took out along w/ floor mats. A/C and P/S is out as well. My cruise is still in. about a 1/4 tank of gas.

My setup is...
D16z6
60 trim T3 turbo .63/.60
Tyrus intercooler
Uberdata running BBKA's stock map.
Open Downpipe
DSM 450cc injectors
skunk2 SS
Spec stage 3 6 puck sprung clutch

Stock suspension w/sam's club all season tires (good tread). (good year HP i think)

it has to be because to took the floormats out ;).

i was thinking about getting a 6 puck sprung clutch, is it as bad for daily driver as everybody makes it seem?

Nice time, I would be happy and just stick to the 8.5psi. Don't want to push your luck that much do you? Just kidding. Try a race track with corners next time. It's much more fun than the drag strip.

Re:Went to the track today. Turbo Del Sol (D16z6) ~8.5psi

nice. I bet if you aired down your tires you could pull better 60fts if you havent already done so.

Re:Went to the track today. Turbo Del Sol (D16z6) ~8.5psi

lol Thanks! Actually, im sure 14.317 is 14.3 where you come from. ;) But I guess that's what I get for being a little more honest ;D Ill fix it for your sake though hehe :-*. (im just playin around)

Actually, I had A LOT of fun. I've been to auto-x would like to try it. But right now, ill stick to drag racing.
Also, BBKA's tune is good for 12psi. W/conservative timing 10psi wont be a sweat ;)

That 6 puck sprung clutch is amazing. It's VERY easy to drive. It's not bad at all. I had the same thought's when I first installed it. But after driving it and breaking it in, at times it hard to tell the difference between that and stock.

I tried to air down the tires but it didn't help any because I couldn't launch above 3000RPM :( (I had FTL on). I was actually really pissed. It was set way too damn low, but I worked with what I had. I lowered the fronts to about 20-22psi. The backs were at 25-27 and I bumped them up to 40 and it added a mph or 2.

Re:Went to the track today. Turbo Del Sol (D16z6) ~8.5psi

yeah when i aired down my tires from 34psi to 20 psi on the fronts, and left the backs alone at 34psi and kept the launch the same (dumping the clutch at 2800rpm) i went from a 2.5 60 ft to a 2.3 60 ft... and only run low 16s...

nice time for a heavy ass sol and on a d16! stock engine or any build ups on the engine?

Re:Went to the track today. Turbo Del Sol (D16z6) ~8.5psi

Yup stock block. Yeah my clutch is nice. It grabs a little hard, but nothing you cant stand. It does chatter a little, but other than that it's not too bad at all.

Hopefully I can get the 60's down. Im gonna try 20psi in the front 40 in the back. Otherwise maybe 18 in the front. Thanks for the advice guys!

Here's the slip BTW:

good job with the build and times!
how do you like that turbo with your setup?
when do you see full spool?

i'm debating on going with 60/48 or 63/60.

Re:Went to the track today. Turbo Del Sol (D16z6) ~8.5psi

Thanks a lot!

I LOVE the 60 trim. It's a tough call on which housing. Mine spools fairly late in 1st gear 3500 about and reaches full boost around 5500.

In 2nd/3rd gears itll start makin boost around 2000-2500 and hit full at about 4000. This is on the .63 exhaust. .48 is quicker. BUT Im actually a fan of the lag. I haven't tried a .48 unfortunately, so Im sorry I can't compare the two :(.

EDIT: BTW I forgot to mention the best part.....This was all w/ a headgasket that was reused from a motor w/100,000 miles on it.....AND STILL COUNTING :P hehe I know i know that's a BIG no no.

Re:Went to the track today. Turbo Del Sol (D16z6) ~8.5psi

hmmm... thats good feedback. I feel the same way, i would rather have a little lag down low and have it hit hard up top.

my set up will be similar to yours... its going into a del sol too! except mine is blue.
