One of my friend's is having a similar HG problem with his freshly rebuilt b17. It has no miles on it yet at all, but he says it's leaking oil from the hg and he's overheating pretty bad and has massive amounts of air coming through the cooling system. He also had the deck and head shaved, but is using the stock headbolts. Only thing I can come up with is the dowel pins...if the block/head is decked, the dowel pins need to be turned down the amount that was shaved+the lower c/r hg. Ask the machinist whether or not they turned down the dowel pins.

oil likes to travel from cooler areas to hotter areas of the engine. I thought for sure my hg was leaking oil, but it turned out to be the vtec solenoid gasket. I would check those before you go for the hg.

First, I can barely read what you're writing.
Second: They pulled the dowl allignment pins so they could surface the deck. Gotcha. Are they missing or do you suspect that they're too long?
Third: Is your machine shop worth a darn? MLS head gaskets require an R50 surface or better. Otherwise they won't seal very well.

Trim the dowel pins when you have either the head or block decked.

They can stick up a little too high and cause the HG to not seat all the way at the corners when compressed.
