Default Weekend project, Upgrade to a GT turbo

I got my hands on a Mazdaspeed GT25 turbo and I replace my td04. This GT turbo is ridiculous in spooling up time. The wastegate is only rated at 6psi, but a MBC would do the trick. Running water and oil lines, no more sitting in the car to cool down.

Had to do alot of grinding to the block and the A/C bracket since it sits pretty close to the block.

Had to clock it and fab up a wastegate bracket and drill and tap it.

My down pipe welded up, painted in chevy orange and wrapped up. Notice my ghetto coat hanger holding up the DP.

Some other odd pics.

My cousin Evo rs, suckers is boosting 20psi and he always win if I race him. HAHAHHAA!!!!!!

Running straight 3" downpipe with Greddy evo2 exhaust.

Looks like a Greddy manifold. Did the GT25 bolt right up to it ??

Yes it's a greddy mani, and yes it bolted right up. Just little bit of grinding the web on the block and it fit like a glove.

pretty neat!!. how does the turbo compare to the other turbo? feel a little bit more power? evo's look better without the spoiler. although his probably didnt come with it. he needs to get them jspec or whatever taillights they are. the ones that dont look like them tezzer's haha. good stuff!!

evo exhaust on an evo, how original :P
wow, im impressed you fit a/c on that sucka, bet that took a lotta fab work. i have a hf mani so i'm forever doomed to be sweaty.

btw, u might wanna wrap the manifold and turbo, not the downpipe. just what i've heard, somebody explain that. retains more heat before the turbo that allows the heat to spool it or something like that?

Like any ball bearing turbo spooling up is not a problem, when you mash the pedal the boost comes right up. As for feel of power? it's much better then the td04 I had on before, but then again it's only a T25 nothing special. I notice that the bov is much louder then before.

As for the Evo anything you buy cost an Arm and Leg. Well, my cousin isn't really into the looks he just wants power. Next on his list of things to do is throwing in HKS cams and reflashing his ecu.
