Wastegate springs...cdm springs

Here's the deal...38mm cdm external wastegate (cheap xs-power junk :1) and it has a spring that hits 3.63 psi. I think I'm going to up the boost with a spring change that way I don't have to crank the mbc as much. They sent me a second spring with the wastegate (one that wasn't installed in it) that's a yellow color. Now according to ssac's site the small yellow is rated at 3.63 like it hits, but what the hell is this other yellow one for? They have a large yellow listed for 1.3bar or some crazy ----, but is that with the 2 yellow springs combined? Pretty much what I want to know (if someone know's off the top of their head) is what my pressure would be at with this other yellow spring only?

Dan told me that TiAL's big yellow is like .8bar = 10.17psi. Who knows with them though.

Yeah, that's pretty much the same thing I've dug up on the tial springs as well. But because it's a cheap cdm knock-off, I don't know if I want to take that chance. :-\

Anybody have any idea on this spring size? Now it's more or less out of curiosity. :-\

Re: Wastegate springs...cdm springs

you could always rig it to a air tank somehow with a regulator and open it slowly and watch the gauge.. i think that would work. i tried to test a internal gate i rigged like this once but i just had a gauge hooked up no way to control the air pressure smoothly so it didnt work well

Your idea may sorta work, but not well enough to tell spring pressure rate on the wastegate. More than likely it'll start opening almost right away, and how far it opens is how it controls your boost. Besides that, most pressure regulators don't go low enough to measure accuately. :-\

just use a leak down tester on a cyl opemed to intake
