wastegate question

I have an external wastegate for my turbo setup and i have a question about the two holes on the WG. i have to hook a vacuum source to the side one correct? what bout da top? i saw some setups where they left it, not even plugged up.
Wat should i do, plug it up? or connect another vacuum line to it?

Re:wastegate question

hook a straight vacuum source to side nipple leave top nipple open unless you are going to run a boost controller.

Re:wastegate question

i'd T it off the hose that goes to the middle of your block next to the BOV/FPR vacuum line, the PCV valves i think it is. so the wastegate has it's own boost/vacuum source and not a shared one as it would if you would've T'd off the BOV. about the boost controler, i had a bad experience for me anyways building one, i ended up buying a turbo xs mbc off ebay and it works awsome.

Re:wastegate question

definately don't T it off the FPR. i wouldn't even T the BOV off the FPR since i see you have the FMU Td' off the FPR already. here's a pic of how i did it off a big vacume source on the manifold, i was gonna do it off the PCV hose which is that larger hose you have going into the top middle of your valve cover on the intake manifold side. that vacuum source is large enough to where you can add a TT one of those Ts' that has 2 outlets so you can T 2 things off 1 source. here's the pic

i didn't T off the PCV valve after all. i T'd off the charcoal fuel/emission filter cause it was gonna be much easier then the PCV. i did it with a plastic T edit:(platic T painted flat black) instead of the bulky brass homedepot T <-what was i thinking ::).

further away so you could see where i Td' off.

hardly no boost spikes at all with an internal w/g. only a 1 psi boost spike on 2nd & 3rd gear. now that the waste gate isn't feeding off the fuel pressure regulator, and the BOV vacuum source, the BOV doesn't flutter on low psi (5-7psi) and the BOV sounds louder too. but the main purpose as why i did this is to avaoid buying a $40. vacuum manifold and to end of reduce the almost 3psi in boost spikes i was getting. i already drove the car for a while and it worked out good.

Re:wastegate question

so i should tap the wastegate vacuum line into the charcoal fuel/emission filter line the one that has the red writing on it. mine is on the throttle body right?
