I, and hundreds of others have encountered this exact same problem.

Yes, you can lengthen the actuator rod. What I did was mount the wastegate to the a/c bracket (no a/c obviously) and then extended the rod with a coat hanger.

Ghetto-fabulous!

the common problem with the T3 and a WG. I asked the same thing when I did my project...and I was told "grind the webbing off of the block and it will fit" So I started grinding and ground a real nice hole in the block. I patched it with JB weld (new owner says its still holding to this day)
http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg

So as I was working on my daily driver, and it was saturday night and I had to drive the bitch the day after...projecteg decided to ------ rig this: yes, I ran it for about 2 months. accually did pretty well. spiked like hell of course, but it worked.
http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg

then one day me and a few friends were drunk so we decided to fix it. I was scrounging through my buddies truck tool box and found a battery tie down rod. I was ------ around with the WG adjuster and the rod and it fit perfectly. so I screwed that part into the WG adjuster, hooked that up like it should on the flapper arm and then angled the rod back. I then took and ------ rigged the bracket to fit on the power steering pump, and with a few washers, it worked perfectly.

here you can see where the battery tie down rod come out. we hacked it a little, then used this clamp to put the 2 together. this also acts as a boost controller.

when kevin and I was tuning my car, we kept trying to up the boost by shortning the rod...and of course the fucker is hot as hell. so then we put on this homemade MBC and it worked perfectly.

so that is my little write up of what I did when I encountered the problem.

extend the rod and mount the wg to the block.
go to the hardware store, and get a threaded rod. also one of those long nuts.
take the wg with you so you get the right size/thread pitch.

Re: wastegate clearance problem, d16 HF manifold

If you can't go longer, go shorter.

Mine looked a lot like yours. I had to ditch that monsterous bracket and make my own out of some Home Depot flat stock. The head of the actuator didn't pass the point that your current bracket is at. You will have to use different bolts/holes than the current one is using too. I wish I had a pic of this but I don't. :P

DON'T forget to remount your P/S and upper engine mount brackets either and check for clearance. :6
