vw 1.8t

looking to increase boost without dishing out $575.00 to get computer flashed. increasing boost manually doesnt work because the computer sees the high boost and puts you in limp mode (5lbs). ive read a few places about tricking map sensor with resistors but again computer catches on. if anyone knows anything about this it would be a big help.

we adjusted the boost to9lbs in my friends 2000 jetta, just hooked up my boost gauge and turned it in. check enigne light came on so we reset the ecu, no problems still runs and works great.

dam, this is good info. my buddy was just asking about cranking the boost on his 1.8t and i didnt believe him when he said the only way to do it was by chipping his ecu.

anyone know what the 1.8t will run safely at? 10psi with no ecu mods done.

anyone know how to get the ecu out of limp mode if/when we ---- it up?

the turbo is really too small, i tried putting it a 10 but it wouldnt, it just would only peak at 8 after that, so max we would get was 9. o by the way, if you pull the bov outa the intake and plug up the intake it makes a nice sound, but sometimes the cel comes on, and you have to reset the ecu or re-start the car otherwise it will only run 5 lbs. get a boost gauge and its all good. it moves pretty good, we got it going down the freeway a 135 no prob.

you would have to chip your ecu to gain more power but its worth it. Vw owners claimed pretty good #'s to addtional horsepower to the wheels. All from just one chip too. As far as increasing your boost you might just want to upgrade to a bigger turbo :-\

Re:vw 1.8t

They gain a lot of power by chipping, cause boost is raised by the chipping and the additional fuel is delivered....

yeah, im finding out the VW isnt that easy to raise the boost. i found it a little had to believe, I thought it was just a matter of adjusting the wastegate. guess not. :-\

I thought he was just rerouting the BOV to the atmosphere, which alot of us have done with our HMT setups?
