Re:volvo bov???

IMHO it's a hunk o' ---- for $25.

It looks very similar to the one on my 740 turbo and it gets mounted right on the turbo itself.
I'd say to look elsewhere for one.

Re:volvo bov???

it will work fine.
i have one on my car. (d16z6)
they are german by a company called Pierburg. they are all going to be dirty because volvo mounts them directly to the engine.
i recommend them. they are heavy duty units and better than the plastic bosch ones. there is also an adjustment screw on the top.

I have one just like it that I got form the junk yard off a saab 900 for ten bucks. Works good as hell and sounds loud too. No laser sounds or any of that crap but makes a nice loud pshhhh sound. Its adjustable too so it never really doesnt work. Mine was a little dirty when I got it so I just broke out the dremel and polished it up and now it looks brand new again. If only it wasnt jb welded on the charge pipe ;D

Re:volvo bov???

Plastic Bosch = $32 after tax at Advanced Auto parts, just feed them the Bosch PN - or have them hunt for overpressure cycling valve or some such, it isn't categorized as BOV.

My take on them? They were good enough for turbo Porsches, they are good enough for you. I run one in the Saab elbow, which is about a 80 degree elbow, right before my TB. THere is no adjustment to speak of, but the spring tension varies around depending on which model they were designated for.

Hell, the Stoopra boys use them as an intermediate level upgrade.

Re:volvo bov???

It should work. I have a Volvo 780 bov. it bolts to the turbe but I'm going to put mine in the general location.

Re:volvo bov???

I now that the plastic ones suck or at least I wont use one of those couse the one on my Passat was stuck open a little bit and i was loosing boost. The guy at the dealer said it was common couse they have a plastic diaphram wich after a while they allways fail due to the heat.I paid extra and got one frome a TT.

Re:volvo bov???

Stock plastic BOVs on 2G DSMs can't hold over 16-18ish Psi without leaking, and anything over 18psi on the 3/S ( stealth ) plastic BOV is own to leak too..

1G DSM is prob. still the best "bang for buck". I paid $0.00 for my volvo BOV.

Re:volvo bov???

bosch bovs suck, the stock one on our GTI 1.8T can hold boost for ----! But i ghess if your not pushing 17psi of boost it'll hold ::)
