No you don't want that. Putting a big ass filter on a velocity stack completely destroys the purpose of it by making it a huge restriction, might as well just put the filter on the turbo itself.

Have you ever looked at the front of a drag car and seen a big silver hole somewhere (bumper, hood, headlight, etc..), that is what a velocity stack is for. Although this isn't how it is always used, this is how it is being used within the context of my original question.

I don`t think a stack could do much since the turbo is making MaD sucking force :S

while the turbo is "making MaD sucking force" velocity stacks have been dyno proven to add horsepower (not a ton, but every bit helps) due to the fact that it smoothely directs the air into the turbo instead of the turbo just sucking air from every direction.

Run a filter for the street, save the stack for the track..2 horsepower isn't going to to ---- for you on the street.

autozone now sells plastic chrome velocity stacks in the ricer aisle. they are pretty big.
saw the same one at the track and the guy said he got it at pepboys.

um the filter wont kill the flow. do you have a degree in fluid dynamics or aerospace engineering or aerodynamics? the flow improvements from a velocity stack are made form the shape of the velocity stack. sure the filter will affect it some, but not enough to destroy its purpose. the filter setup on mine has the velocity stack still protruding into the filter so flow direction into the stack is not disturbed.

exactly, and thats why the filter doesnt destroy the purpose, flow direction and smoothness remain virtually unchanged. if you had the flange in the way of airflow, sure it would screw it up, but min is not in the way. the stack is designed with the extended lip so the flange of the filter wont interfere.

as you can see air will flow STRAIGHT through the filter and doesnt not disturb the flow. the only affect the filter will have is restriction, however it will be minimal due to the amount of filter element area on a filter this size. ive calculated the filter area of my filter to be just over 2 sq.ft. thats more then double the size of a normal sized filter. i would run a larger filter for less restriction, but space is an issue. plus im trying to have the resonance (remember engine is NA) hit around peak hp as to make the most power out of this setup, and a larger filter would mean a shorter pipe = resonance at lower rpms.

and i will be using this car on a road course, LOTS of ---- gets kicked up on road course, and its dumb to not run a filter.

lol ..a filter will harness hp on a na seyup wide open throttle body is ganna give you the most power .... however ibspec did dyno there velocity stack with the same filter ...they had a ebay short ram with k&n filter... then put a velocity stack and a bigger filter on the short ram and gained 8 whp over the regular k&n filter w/ the short ram intake .. if you dont believe me you can talk to the owner ive seen dyno sheets ... www.importbuilders.com or www.ibspec.com ..............so darkelvis you are more then wrong a filter does not defeat the purpose of a velocity stack
