Velocity stack and filter?
I'd like to put a velocity stack in my front bumper for this build, but I am worried about daily driving issues of not having any kind of filter between my front bumper (air inlet) and my turbo. No one give me ----, because telling me to not use one isn't going to change anything. I know a filter kind of kills off the purpose of a velocity stack, but I figure putting a screen somewhere in-line between the stack and the turbo will still make the stack more useful than just sucking in hot engine bay air. Does anyone have any ideas besides the pic below? I'm going to be using 4 T-Bolt clamps per coupler, do you think that I still may suck the screen in and ---- myself?

Re: Velocity stack and filter?
screen would work, it works 1 inch from the compressor wheel so whats the difference? Personaly I would just shove a sock in there, it popular with the bmw crowd.

Re: Velocity stack and filter?
That sock and the BMW ---- was funny as hell.
I'm just worried about either sucking the screen in or if using 2 screens (like in my pic) will actually hurt my air flow as compaired to just putting a screen on and forgetting the velocity stack. |
Re: Velocity stack and filter?
The stack out front would scare me a little because it will pick up all the road debrie that is usally deflected by the car itself. I dont tink 2 screens are better then one unless the second one is a finer screen. Try it who knows, good luck.

Re: Velocity stack and filter?
i dont know how helpful this will be, but i will be running a velocity stack on my NA crx. its a IB spec velocity stack with K&N 6" filter over the top.

what is it for?

Re: Velocity stack and filter?
gsrcrxsi-ummmm, I thought my 2 screens were going to defeat the purpose of the stack. Not that I want to be the one to break it too you, but that is going to totally KILL the whole purpose behind having a velocity stack. Just run a cold air intake.
heedlessdragger-It creates a ram-air effect so your turbo (or n/a engine) doesn't just suck in air, the air is forced in. :) |
Re: Velocity stack and filter?
wow i want one now!
