using external wastegate w/o block off flange??

can you use an external wastegate using the existing wastegate housing instead of a block off downpipe flange?

Re:using external wastegate w/o block off flange??

sure, but then you have to rig up something to hold the flapper shut

Just hook up the whole internal wastegate setup and don't run any lines to the wastegate actuator for the internal wastegate.

Or weld the flapper shut.

Re:using external wastegate w/o block off flange??

i don't want to weld the flapper shut because i'll eventually get the right flange, i just don't have it now, and won't have it before this weekend when i'm goin to do my install, the whole point of me using an external wastegate was because the actuator doesn't clear my a/c lines and stuff, so there's no way besides welding the flapper shut or leaving the actuator on but unhooked?

sure there is... all u have to do is just rig somthing up to hold it there....like a very tight spring

so you think i could just wire the little arm on the flapper to the compressor housing or something?

Weld it there since your not going to be using it after you get your new flange.Or you can tie that swing arm to something.

cool, i thought you guys were talking about welding the actual flapper to the exhaust housing.

that wont always work, especially for high boost

people with this attitude are affraid because they don't know about tuning... people run 15psi all the time on BONE STOCK MOTORS... Honda motors are stronger then people think... but if you run anything improperly (bad tuning), it's gonna blow... I know just as many people that have blown their motors at 6-8psi as they have at 17-18 psi... and the people over 1 bar blew them boosting in high gears racing on the freeway... (idiots ;D)
