unsure about motor strength
what fully built setup would work better to run high boost levels in the range of 15-20 daily?
a fully built h22 or a fully built b20/vtec? |
Re:unsure about motor strength
It really depends on what you mean by "Fully Built". If its really FULLY built, either of them will stand a good chance of lasting.. The H22 is a native vtec motor, but then again, both of them will have upgrade internals, sleeved, etc.... so, it really all depends on what your definition of "built" is.

Re:unsure about motor strength
well pretty much everything will get re-done or be brand new:pistons, bored, ported, spun and balanced, etc.

Re:unsure about motor strength
depends on what car u are putting the motor in.
a fully built B20 can be bored out, i have seen a GSR bored out to a 2.1 Letre motor fully built in a 99 SI coupe(friend of mine in the army). the b series would be cheaper just because it is cheaper to install in a Teg or civic, and you have more room to work with. later. |
Re:unsure about motor strength
the built h22 will have a better rod/stroke ratio for running high rpms reliably... so i say H22

Re:unsure about motor strength
how much could i get an h22 bare block for?
|
Re:unsure about motor strength
should i use the h22a1 or the h22a4?
|
Re:unsure about motor strength
The only way to build an H22 is with sleeves. To my understanding and I don't know exactly why, you can't install forged internals in an h22 on the stock sleeves. Why are you limiting opinions to these two setups?

Re:unsure about motor strength
these are the two i mainly wanted to try but im open to options, i just want an engine with a lot of potential

Re:unsure about motor strength
well hoggy up there just pulled some great numbers with his b16a2 on 9psi. he got 237whp and i think 160-70 lbs of torque. ask him about it. and gdrumm has a turbo h22 running 6psi. talk to him about that one
