Universal FMU ??????

Re: Universal FMU ??????
ive turbo'd 2 older civics before as well as weld up tubing for alot of my friends on there cars/trucks + alot of fab work . i just recently graduated from Cal trade welding school with my certifications . so fab work is my hobbie as well as my job.
as far as tuning goes the only way i can do it is via an fmu and an ignition box ...(if i can find one) yeah its not as good as a stand alone or piggy back ..... yes its a bitch trying to find performance stuff for this engine or stuff to tune it..... but thats makes it more of a challenge and in the end more of an acomplishment and also im kinda jew tight on money. the reason for the small turbo is i know this engine wont take over 5 psi in stock long block form without puking metal shards all over . so i wanted to keep it under 5psi for longevity . and i figuer the small turbo is good for a stock rated 12psi on the benz it came off witch was a big straght 6cyl . of so if im just going to run it under 5psi it's good enough for my set up . i always run 93 and im planing on running a strickt diet of 76 race fuel i beleave its 100 octain . that with the fact i will have the timing retarded like a kid on the short bus ..... and ill be running colder plugs and have the fuel psi through the roof ....... I "think" it will work . this is HMT ! so this isint a big budget full race set up with hundreds of hours of r&d work . its just for fun on the streets and a drag strip run every so often . if i can find an ignition box that will work to retard the timing and i can find a cheep fmu , get ahold of some colder plugs and fill the bitch up with 100 oct ........... why Shouldint it work ?? critizum welcome ....... constructive or not so constructive .......
lowerit - sorry about blowin up earlyer . i was already pretty pissed off and in a not so great mood and it escaladed from there . the thing is i dont have $2,000 + for this turbo project . ive been collecting parts from the junk yard and getting ahold of scrap tubing and with my fab skills was plaing on setting this up just the way ive done it before on friends hondas and the way ive seen it done . unless i stumble across a stand alone or piggy back set up in a yard sale for under a few hundred then thats out of the question .

Re: Universal FMU ??????
Reading your posts makes my head hurt. Could you spell more coherently so that we can understand your question.... I am not up on the internet ebonics these days. ,
Do you even know how an fmu works? An adjustable fmu might work too. Pretty much all FMUs are universal. A begi (cartech) one might work or just an safc.

Re: Universal FMU ??????
Fmu's are boost dependent. They come in different ratios. For instance, an 8:1 raises your fuel pressure 8lbs per every 1lb of boost.
SFMUS are boost dependent but tunable.
Either way you look at it, the accuracy in tuning isn't there.
I'd run MSnS and get them to hook you up with a base map on your specs.
MSnS is CHEAP.

Re: Universal FMU ??????
fmu's arent very safe!!!! if you know what ur doing they arent half bad. there are manny different ones 8:1, 9:1, 10:1, 11:1, and so one. you need the right one or your gonna be picking whats left of your motor off the highway. i dont know what one does what and for what so i stay away. most people blow there ---- cuz they hop on ebay type in fmu and pick the cheapest one, with out looking at its ratio and of course quality. if your gonna run a shitty fmu at least do your research and get the right one and cross ur fingers it doent blow
