My hardware store connectors have held up for a long time. Only 6psi as of yet but they're working...

lol! well here's another one...spent tonight creating my own fireworks with the sawzall in the shop makin up my temporary intercooler pipes until I can get some proper ones bent up for me. (you don't even wanna see that monstrosity coming from the compressor housing and snaking around the downpipe to the 180 bend lol...)

anyway, here it is all piped up and ready go as of 2 hours ago.

I took my sawzall frustrations out on my bumper too and hacked out both sections of of the grille crossing so now other than headlights and green all you see is the intercooler :P

um, here's an interesting tidbit that maybe someone can shed some light on for me....

ok, I had the wastegate set at 9psi unintercooled...now that it's intercooled it's running at 5psi (I'm assuming the extra volume created by the cooler is what's lowered the boost pressure)? YET! the damn thing feels as if it pulls JUST as hard at 5psi intercooled as it did at 9psi unintercooled?? I thought all this did was stop detonation not increase performance?? I bought it as I wanted to up the boost more down the road but hell, the thing is running really nicely right now...hell, even my bov is blowing off properly for once!

any words of wisdom on why this is or is it a fluke in my head??

Where do you have your boost gauge line hooked too? If its not on the intake mani it could be giving you a false reading, but you should be having a bit of pressure loss but 4psi sounds really high. On another note, the intercooler should be giving you a good amount of extra hp because it cools down the intake charge thus making the air more dense in the engine. If you went from no intercooler to a big front mount you will definetly feel the difference. Car runs a lot smoother now too doesnt it. If you want you can turno up the boost a little bit too.

I've got the boost gauge hooked where I've always had it...tapped to right before the fpr on the intake manifold. always get good readings. also, I only ran it from dead cold after I was done doing the pipes. went up the street to get gas and then back again so the engine wasn't hot at all. and yeah, it felt a lot more smooth and boost seemed to hit in a little faster too but as I said it was only at about 5psi...looks like it maxed out at about 6 though and unintercooled it was mainly at like 8psi but I would see 9psi when the engine was cool or in 2nd gear which is why I said that
