Or use the valves in place, ie-wastegate. Actuate each valve independantly depending on RPM. This would be a huge tuning project. Once the small turbo is pushed to it's limit, the bigger turbo should take over but bypassing the smaller one would be most benificial right? Beats me...

DRT in Woodside, NY had that setup on their race car 'bout a year or two ago. I don't know if they gained any advantages by it but you can always give them a call. (71 397-8586 ask for Ralphy or Shortie.

when i wasa living in NY, i was always over there, they worked on few of my frends and my cars.

if anyone her knows them personally, maybe you know me too...
i use to drive a white LS/VTEC integra (before 92 hatch LS/VTEC). and there was that short dark guy (boogie) who had a green civic turbo coupe, and turbo Jay, and the list goes on forever.......Queens NYC

anyways

the setup DRT has, is not a serise...it is two turbos spooling at the same time....removed the front of the whole car so he had space for them....he has 2 T3/T4 turbo's on the race GSR engine.

later..

now...i will try and explain as best as i can..

DRT setup explained in basics

the exhaust manifold, had four openings.
1 & 3 spools turbo 1
2 & 4 spools turbo 2

BUT later he then made all four exhaust pipes go into one, then into an adaptor with the external wastegate, then spit into two, one for each turbo.....

the compressor pipes from the turbo exits the turbo and goes together then into the intake manifold....

this is when DRT took the turbo's off when he blew his engine in E-town N.J.

look closely and u will see what i am saying

I've decided to build it, and I'm just going to run them in paralllel like I originally planned. Everybody knows that a T3/T4 is the best way to go but I'm trying to build this on a budget and I got 2 IHI's for a quarter of the price of a T4 so thats what I'm going to use. HMT is about keeping low budgets and experimenting. I'll hopefully have them on the motor by mid next week. I'll get pictures of hopefully the first twin turbo HMT D-series motor

The firing order is 1342 so I'm running 1 and 4 into the one turbo and 3 and 2 into the other. If you do it 1 and 3 the exhaust will pulse twice on the one and none on the other. You want it to go back and forth equally so they spool equally. Most of the measuring is done and I'm about to start the welding. It looks like theres lots of room in a 90' Civic until you try to stuff 2 turbos in it...this is a bitch
