Whats Up Fellas,
Alright before you say im some stupid noob, don't. Im designing a true twin turbo setup for a b18a motor in a 93 Civic Si. I want to run two small turboes, running 5-8 psi per side. I then want to run each turbo through a DSM sidemount in the corners of the bumper. Now here comes the interesting part; I want to build two separte intake manifolds on one flange. I have made a series of rough sketches, and will post em once i get them reduced (there on 36 x 24 velum paper) So here is my tenative setup:

b18a1 engine
Darton Sleeves
Eagle Rods
SRP 9:1 pistons
Crower turbo grind cams
Skunk2 cam gears
custom manifold
custom intake mani
mandrel charge and downpipes
p28 w/ hondata 4b

so thats what I got so far, but I have a few questions:

1) What are some small turbos that spool before 3000rpm?

well i have wanted to do a homeade twinturbo setup for a whlie, but it really isnt practical. the piping would be a real pain in the ass, since you need to couple the cylinders 1 and 4 together, and 2 and three together to split the pulses evenly, otherwise it wont spool well at all. if you want to try it use the rhb5 turbo on the probe and mx6. and as for the intake manifold i would just use a second throttle body on the other end of the intake manifold. that would perform much better, abd still give you the packaging you want.

Yes there is a reason you don't see twin turbo inline fours. Plus you don't want two separate intake manifolds. Its very possible that each turbo will not make identical boost and air flow. You don't want one side flowing better than the other. Also with a sleeved 9:1 bottom end you should be runing 18 psi in that thing not 8. Two first gen automatic dsm turbos would probably spool up decent if you keep going with the twin turbo setup.. You need a small turbine to make it spool early.

think about it each turbo will be running off from .9L you will need some tiny ass turbos, it would be cool to do just to say you had a tt4cyl but i dont think it would be very practical price wise, but some ppl chrome out their engines and that dosent add hp, so why not stick 2 turbos in there.

I am not doing this for the cool factor, I am doing it because I think if well planned and designed, it could be a very effective setup; little lag, high boost.

PS: Todd, i said 5-8 psi per side which equals 10-16psi

Its a proven fact that single turbo setups run more effiecent, more power and less work. Not worth it..

I think the "Cool Factor" would be taking place here and thats about it.

Actually 5-8 per turbo would be 5-8 total. hmm.. each turbo feeds two banks each at 5-8 psi.. how do you figure that 5-8psi worth of air flow is going to equal 16? Even if you ran both turbos together you will stil only get 5-8psi. Unless you want to run 16psi.. Remember that psi is a result of restriction on air flow. If both turbos have 5psi wastegates your still gonna run 5psi and flow that related amount of air.

I think its probably a waste of time, but I can't really say because I've never done it. I think if you want to do, you should. and when your done, don't say ---- about it, just post pics. That would say it all

why don't u look at how the meguires twin turbo integra was built..and a single turbo is gonna be better then twins..why do you think the turbo upgrade turbo kits for the supra TT and RX-7 TT use a single turbo conversion? twin turbo is gonna be a total waste of money..and your gonna feel bad when u spend thousands of dollars and get stomped by a guy with crx and a homemade turbo.BUT if you wanna do it anyway..the 3000gt vr4/dodge steath turbos are very very small.
