yeah the Christmas tercel caught fire and burned as a result of trying to keep up with some BMWs on a road trip. very cool car, nonetheless

lowering the wastegate pressure is pretty easy. lots of ghetto ways of doing it. I personally like just taking the wastegate actuator off, and putting a small carb spring around the wastegate flapper, (then holding a light amount of tension with the spring) this way when the car makes boost the flap is forced open, The spring regulates the ammount. the more tension, the more boost, it works good for real low boost apps. You can dial it in anywhere from 0-8psi on just about any internally gated turbo.

good luck with your tercel!

Jeff

HOW MUCH?!??!! Geez, when My bro and I went to get his 4A-GZE, I we were shown one for like $800! Canadian! Granted, there was no ECU, and a cut harness, but still....

Shine Used Japanese Auto Parts in Toronto...

This was like a couple of years ago, but between the first time we checked the place out, to when we actually went to get an engine, (more than half a year), the guy was good on a quote for $1000 for the GZE. He had a couple left when we picked up our engine. In fact they were there during our first trip.

Given the market for E series engines, I wouldn't doubt that they're still there.

I'd trade a tercel for a crx any day.. heh... (seriously)

The stock tercel engines are rather weak, it's the 4efte jdm starlet engine that can take 250+ hp on stock internals.
