Turboing a D15...
OK, ive got my turbo kit all pieced together and gonna start slapping it on when i get back from vacation. Setups basically gonna be:
T3 .42ar/.48ar
hf mani/ adaptor plate
450 dsm inujectors
safc hack
Tyrus FMIC
Now this is gonna be on my d15b7 in my del sol s. The engine has about 170k on it but runs smooth as hell. Ive had 2 turbo d16z6 in the past ( blew one of them up) What is thel imitations with the d15? Are the rods really as weak as everyone says? Is it alot weaker then a d16z6? Id really like to achieve 170-180whp at around 8psi with this thing, can the d15 hold up to this and is it capable? If youve had experience boosting a d15 please post up, thanks.

Re:Turboing a D15...
wow,
looks like lots of people are going this same route now!
seems like people are realizing that you've got
a superlight car with a dx.. and a motor thats not too shabby.. so that + turbo = FUN! and you dont even have to do an engine swap! haha
anyways, i'm doing the same,
and was asking these same questions.
basically, the rods are weaker than the d16,
but its not that big of a difference, dseries in general arefairly weak.
But you should be able to run 8psi just fine.
I dont know if you'll hit 180whp at 8psi,
but you might. I think 170 is more reasonable.
Definetely you want to get it tuned,
but you're on the right track!
i'm going with this setup personally..
14b, hf/adapter, rx7 ic, dsm 450's, smc+
