sounds more efficient than the superchargers for the 2 strokes. at least that boost being blown out of the exhaust isnt lost completely, it gets blown back through the exhaust housing.

and i was also hoping you could explain the differences between turbo and supercharging a 2stroke and why you think a turbo wouldnt work when superchargers do.

turbochargers need oil for lubrication. 2 strokes dont have and oiling system, its mixed in with the gas. you would have to run an external oiling system with a tank, pump, a feed, and a return. have fun with that.

It's too much of a hastle to boost your rc and you being broke and all doesn't help, you're best off if you get a rope :1

Wouldn't FI on a 2 stroke not make as much power as FI on a 4 stroke? I'd think that because you're pressurizing the crank case and the piston is then going to have to fight all that extra pressure in addition to its normal pressurizing of the crank case air that you would lose a decent amount of power. And then like you said, with any kind of FI you're going to get much of the mixture blown out the exhaust, but I guess that doesn't matter because in reality even "NA" 2 strokes are actually FI.

Kind of interesting now that I think about it. Anyone have an article or how it works thing for FI 2 strokes? I'd kinda like to read up on it.

the unburnt oil will blow thru the turbo, the blades would fling the oil at the bearings around he blades, therefore lubing the turbo. at least, thats what the guy says.

and if i were to tackle a project of this propotions, the whole purpose would be to have something different and for sound. has anyone heard a turbo spooling at 30k rpm?

I don't know much about RCs, but how is air metered? Tiny carbs? Make it suck-through and have the turbo pump wet air. Like the other guy said, the unburnt oil will lube the hot side, while the carb will take care of the cold side.

If you guys believe everythign "technical" that you read, I'm going to sell you my latest boat-bilge electric supercharger.

The "blades" of a turbo are completely isolated from the bearings. What do you think keeps oil from being flung on the blades now?

The oiling needs of something turning at 100k RPM are significantly different even than a highly tweeked two stroke.
Also - note that 2 strokes dont last that long, mainly due to not having a forced oiling system.

Want to turbo a 2-stroke? Assuming you can get past all the issues with port setup and properly fueling it, pressurizing the carb and dealing with the way 2 strokes pump fuel (usually a pump pulse, which isn't going to work with pressure in the carb) - look for a basic air pump for emissions controls... Belt driven.. Well, I guess it's a supercharger..

Rule number one: Don't believe anything you read on the internet
Rule number two: See rule number one...Especially if it is on a damn RC car forum.

Have you had your nitro motor apart? Do you understand how the ports work? Turboing one is pointless along with supercharging. Either just get a better motor, send yours out for porting or even port it yourself. I always ported to stock junk engines that came in trucks and the gains a great, but the engine die even sooner than normal.
