You don't need to use the water option on the turbo. It cools the turbo off better, but it's not needed. It also heats your motor up more since the coolant is getting super heated by the turbo.

Maybe someone could explain to me what serious "engine damage" can occur if you don't let it idle for 20-130 seconds. I can see the turbo getting a nice coating of burnt oil, but the motor shouldn't be affected any more than a naturally aspirated motor would(unless your EGT is like 1400+ at shutdown).

Water cooling is not necessary.

i think the serious engine damge could just be a big warning so people will do it?

If its a factory car maybe when they say engine damage they consider the turbo as part of the engine because its part of the powerplant.

the part where the car gets hotter temps cause of water cooling is enough to keep me away. i use synthetic 10w-40w
and a local turbo shop guy here said it isn't neccesary just use good oil. also let it cool down a couple minutes before shutting down the engine. or drive without going into boost on low rpm for 3-5 minutes "cruise" before shutting it down.

guys, if you aren't going to water cool can i at least suggest oil cooling?

it's a smart thing to do on any motor, turbo or N/A

I still need to do it with the 350, but I need to hunt around to find a oil cooler that will match the size of my tranny oil cooler (which by the way is bigger then most of the radiators you guys run inside your turbo hondas :P)

Heres what I am going to do. I have the option on my turbo. I went to speedway motors here in town and bought a 20 tranny cooler. I am going to route coolent from my block to the turbo then the the cooler then back to the engine. Thaty way my turbo stays cool and my car doesn't over heat.

aren't u worried about dropping too much pressure?

otherwise the idea sounds cool.
