I wanna braze it all together. They do it for hot water piping in houses... The charge pipes can't get that hot~ PS- my handlebars are 7/8" copper pipe sleeved with 3/4" steel pipe. CLEARCOATED so as to not oxidize. I like the copper charge pipes and Intake manifold idea, but would the copper and brazing for welding handle boost? (12psi MAX) |
Re: Turbo Suzuki Bike project CARBURATOR questions
You can Tig weld copper. The problem with brazing isn't the heat or the pressure it is the vibration, it will literally shake those pipes apart. :X

Just my experience from building a blow thru setup.
As long as the carb's are sealed and you use a boost source to keep the fuel pressure ahead of the boost , you won't have any issues... track down the regulator from a maserati BI turbo (they still make them for about $50) they had box'd carbs and used a boost source from he factory to keep the pressure ahead of the game. My carb'd blow through corvair Attachment 19589 good thread..My next project after the GRM civic is putting a bike motor into a 56 Isetta I have.. looks like I will turbo it now! |
Re: Turbo Suzuki Bike project CARBURATOR questions
Nice corvair and vanity plate 8)
and you guys sure you can weld copper??? |
Re: Turbo Suzuki Bike project CARBURATOR questions
I am 100% sure that you can TIG weld copper, I have done it several times. Not all alloys are weldable but most are.

Re: Turbo Suzuki Bike project CARBURATOR questions
I'm a Migger. (no one ghost edit that!)
Not a very good tigger am i. I think i'll just braze it. Read up alot on it online, and it's pretty damn strong brazing copper to copper butt weld style. An intake manifold isn't very difficult. |
Re: Turbo Suzuki Bike project CARBURATOR questions
Brazing is plenty strong, just doesn't like high heat or vibration.

Parts are starting to get ordered... project should be under way in a week or so |
Re: Turbo Suzuki Bike project CARBURATOR questions
I am in the same boat as you. I want to turbo a old school Honda SOHC CB750 and will have carberation questions as well.
What is the stock compression on that Bandit? |
