turbo+supercharger=alot of boost
 

now i was just wondering is there anyway to run a turbo setup into a supercharger....would it work.... ::)has anyone ever heard of this?

not sure if im right, but i think i heard something about a 1st gen supercharged mr2 with some sort of hks turbo.

yup.. that's right.. HKS made the twin charge kit for the 4AGZE...

That just seems like overkill. Not to mention that fuel mangement would be a BEAST on a custom setup. ???

There were previous posts about combination charges i.e. from twin turbo setups not producing a "total" boost or something. I'm not sure I understood the whole thing, but it was basically saying that if you have two turbos running on an engine, thier combined boost would not be 20psi.

Could some explain that with some clarity. Seems the search engine is still broken.

is they are in paralelle you wouldn't get the sum of the two pressures.
if they are independant you would get the sum.

why super and turbocharge. why not just concentrate on one. and if you're going to supercharge. ---- turbos. superchargers are way superior to turbos. just supercharge! they're expensive though.

i guess super and turbocharging has good racing characteristics. having the supercharger for the bottom and a huge turbine for the top end.

Older racing cars used both, because the supercharger defeats any chance of boost lag. Its not a bad idea, but it is a lot of money to invest into the car - I was hoping to do something similar to this myself. But on a Honda with a single intake manifold, my supercharger would only serve as a means of killing turbo lag almost indefinently.

you guys remember that article in sport compact? it was that meguires Type R.. with a HKS turbo and a blower... twin FI setup, on a completly stock b18c5 tuned with a Apexi Fcon, it made something crazy like over 400whp (15psi).

In the 1980s, Lancia ran a Delta for rally racing that was twincharged. The supercharger was cutoff at 4000 rpm and the turbo by then had spooled up thus no turbo lag. It produced over 400 whp on a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder. Did 0-60 in something like 4 or 5 seconds. HKS made a twincharger kit for 1st Gen MR2's (AW11) like someone else already mentioned. Produced something like 350 hp. It would be possible, but requires lots of tuning with regards to fuel and supercharger cutoffs and also trying to get enough room under the hood for both is a slight problem.
