you have the same turbo as me, it's upside down because on those subaru xt or even the wrx, the engine are boxer, which make the exhaust manifold come from under and faces topwards.. so the turbo must be mounted upsidedown in the subaru engine, i have a schematic of the turbo/engine and it sits 180 than usual honda/acura turbo setups.... the turbo inlet is facing towards the ground on subaru xt.. even wrx.

ya of course it's smoking hahhaa... hope it's ok, mine was fine no probs and it was out of a 1987 xt .. RUNS PERFECT!! talk about reliability on turbos
