Turbo setup suggestions? (Long)
Hello all, I must say this board is awesome. But, aside from that, I'm looking for some input on which turbos I should consider when making a decision for my setup.
I have a non-vtec D16 in my CRX. (Though it's not the A6. It's from a '99 Civic I think and <30K mi. ) I want a setup that won't kill my motor (when tuned) for a good while. (7-8 psi?)
I plan on running a FMIC, BOV, and possibly the APEXi AVC-R (but maybe a manual boost controller instead). Also, a MSD 6BTM.
This is a real basic list of the big parts right now (though I already picked up a used BTM cause the price was sooo nice). Right now I'm just collecting parts as I can afford them and am aiming for next spring to install.
I also will need a new clutch almost certainly, too.
I've read that it's a lot easier to set the boost higher than lower, what do I look for in a turbo to achieve this when shooting for 7-8 psi? (I also want to go internal wastegate to more easily pipe the exhaust.)
Oh, and as far as fuel management goes, I'm on the fence when it comes to TurboEdit/Ghettodyne or something fancier like the AFC hack. (I need to keep this project budget minded.)
Yeah, and if I'm missing any major points here, please let me know.
Thanks.

Honestly.. I think you covered everything pretty well, as far as turbos goes. I think a nice T3 from a Saab/Volvo or even a Ford T-bird/merkuer with a .48ar exhaust housing should do pretty well. Spool decently, and pretty readily availible in junkyards. Also the MX6/Probe turbo RH5h IHI turbo could work, very small and fast spooling, but incredibly easy to work with on d-series, and has a internal gate already set at 8psi. check through our turbo projects a few cars have them.
good luck!
Jeff
