Turbo placement?
Hey guys, just need some input/pics (yes I've checked out the projects). I'm putting a TD05 on my B18 (in my eg hatch). I'm fabricating a standard log manifold, yet I'd like some input on what you've done. I can't just weld on a flange, as the compressor neck won't clear. So I need some ideas. Also, it's hard to see in the pictures how you guys made that awful bend from the compressor down to the intercooler. I've got a dsm outlet neck, so that helps some. Please hook me up with some pictures and any ideas to help out. Thanks. (sorry so long)
couple of options:
1- rotate the compressor housing so the outlet neck faces down (or whatever direction you want, you'll have to fab up a new wastegate actuator-to-turbo bracket, easy enough)
2- when looking down onto the log manifold from above, twist the turbo so the centre line (shaft) is no longer parallel to the centre line of the log... (yah this explanation is kinda iffy)
3- shift the collector of the log mani left or right so the neck clears the mani.

Hey thanks for the ideas. I've thought of those. I just need some photos if anyone has any. I've got plans for either a drop collector to flange, or rotating the compressor housing, but then I'd have problems clearing my downpipe. I'd like some photos of the compressor outlet. It most likely needs a sharp bend, so I'd like to see how everyone else handled it. Thanks.
