Default turbo on an OPEL

Hi,

I am going to put a turbo on a 2.0 litre OPEL engine.

the block is a c20ne and it's known for it's durability and strength. It is an 8v engine.

I would like to know which turbo you would advise. And what boost levels are normal for stock engines. I am going to lower the compression with a thicker head gasket to allow more boost.

I know that I am probably going to blow up my first engine since this will be my first turbo project although I have spend quite some time gathering information about putting a turbo on an engine.

I am from the Netherlands so there could be some spelling errors.

dont bother, buy a C20let calibra/cavalier turbo engine, 204bhp out of the box and built properly.. you'll end up spending similar money turboing the 8v vauxhall engine and will end up with considerably less power and torque..

and to anyone who says theres no cav's calibras in scrap yards.. WRONG! you just have to open your eyes, most scrappers have an engine shed... phone round and you'll get what you need, leave your number and wait for the call..

just out of interest, what car is this going into.. astra gte, cav, nova.. what?

hey its even a homemade turbo style too. it looks like they used a stock exhaust mandfold and an adapter plate (little different the AbaZ's setups).

SS braided line next to a timing belt?!?!? that is so not a good idea!!!

yeah, thats a standard vauxhall (opel on continental europe) exhaust manifold...

as for the ss line/cam belt combo..

the person who built the engine is welsh.. thats the only excuse

(note: the english have a long standing joke about valley dwelling, simple , sheep ******** welsh people)

ive seen another conversion on this engine where the manifold from a ford escort RS turbo was used with a modified flange for the head, not only was this much neater, the turbo is in a better place too.. add to that you can get a ERST manifold with T3 attatched for about £70 at any scrap yard

The engine is coming in an opel kadett D ( Vauxhall astra MK1 )

I could buy an C20LET but I think it's more special to build a turbo on a C20NE / C20SEH since I have never seen one before.

I know that i am likely going to destroy my first engine while experimenting with it. I am not affraid of blowing it up since a c20ne or seh are not that expensive.

but i am not going to experiment with that engine.

The engine that is displayed above what is altered to the engine to allow more turbo pressure. On the site I only found that there where other pistons used and stronger bolds. No other modifications done to the engine?

And how much hp does this engine have? is it a c20NE or 20SEH
