Default turbo or motor swap?

I have a 99 civic vtec single cam. Bad thing is it's got 90 thousand miles on it now. Been thinking of putting a greddy turbo or the edelbrock performerx turbo kit on it. And thinking that if I blow my motor with the turbo, atleast I didnt spend Big $$$ on a motor swap and turbo. Or should I go with like a B18 or a B16 and turbo one of those? Kinda new at this so what do the experts think?

don't ever buy a kit, if you buy a kit, your a bitch, like chingro. anyways yes, You can turbo your engine with 90 thousand miles on it, lots of guys here have over 160 tho on their motors, and are running plenty of boost. Read the FAQ. Also, A swap would be nice but if your on budget(arn't we all?) then stick with the D-series, parts are cheap, easy to find, and you can make tons of power boosting one. not to mention if you blow one up you can get another one for cheap. ---- DOHC!!!

Thanks for your input. Have you heard any good things about that edelbrock turbo kit for the SOHC civic? I heard that the greddy one was better because it's more reliable but its more expensive and doesnt come with an intercooler or a blowoff valve.

OKay, I finally get it. SO you take turbos from different kinds of cars from a junkyard? Actually, I still don't get it. So I guess you gotta know a lot about the damn car and taking it apart. so you can make your own turbo huh?

200k+ miles 10psi.

Kits are for twits (nothing else rhymed with kits).
If you dont know your ----, buy a kit.
If the shoe fits, dont buy kits.
If I see you buying a KIT, i will smear ---- under your door handles.

Buying a kit is like having one of those expensive sex dolls. Sure you can ask for special options such as tightening sphyncters, specific hair colors, etc but at the end of the day, you're still ------- a piece of plastic. Plastic is petroleum based and we all know where petrolium comes from. Dont be a dinosaur ******.

LMAO!!!
anyway, back to the kit buying ******...
But no, you don't have to get all your parts from a junkyard. Kits are meant for retarded people, sorry to say. You can get better quality parts, more reliable fuel management, better turbo, more POWER! and the satisfaction of doing it yourself for less then a 'edlebroke' kit, if you piece together your own kit.
putting a turbo on your car is not about being cool my friend, if all you wana do is impress the ricers at car shows, then get the ---- out.
alot of guys here piece together there own kit by buying used parts from junkyards, used/newparts from ebay/CCA/stealthmode performance and the for sale sections here. then once you get all the parts you need, you head over to homedepot, pick up the miscelanious(lol). Anyway, another down fall to the premade kits is their lack of fuel management, since your running a 99 civic, I believe you have OBD2, you can use a variety of after market computers for this, or you could get a OBD2-OBD1 conversion harness and use Uberdata, which is way better and cheaper then hondata, AEMs, Emanage in my opinion. IF this makes no sense to you, read the forums, read the FAQ, and read some more. and if your too lazy and wana buy a kit, go ---- yourself.
