I just installed my t3 turbo on my integra and it only boost 2psi, in every gear even at high rpms. Any idea what it is? The car feels like its being held back and restricted, like the turbo shaft isn't spinning, although I did spin the shaft and it feels like its spinning freely. I am running a t3 63/60 with a chipped obd1 ecu with 450cc dsm injectors and 255 walbro. I have a 1g dsm bov and 2.5" dp.
I hooked up my bov by teeing into the line between the intake manifold and pcv valve. All other vac lines are in and have been checked aswell...

Any ideas? It doesn't sound like a boost leak though, I guess I'll pull off the turbo and take a look to make sure the shaft is spinning free..... help...

 

Does it sound like a wastegate issue? I had to relocate the wastegate... I don't think its that though...

 

Okay, I would have to say wastegate as my guess.

Is your catalytic converter installed? If it isnt, that should help you trouble shoot this one out. Can you hear that thing spoolin up at high RPMs? Every turbo has that distinct whine, you know what I mean. Like passing a semi on the highway.

 

internal or externally gated? whats the gate set at?? are you even using a boost controller? if you're not using a boost controller, then the gate is prob set at 2lbs.... get a boost controller if you dont have one... if you do have one, adjust it (if maunal, tighten it down) a little...

 

Its internally gated and no boost controller. Are you sure thats it? As I know on stock nissan 300zx's, stock boost was higher than 2psi...

I have the stock cat in there and I do not hear it spooling. My last car was turbo and I have been in and driven other turbo cars so I know what that sounds like.

It feels like its not spooling and its almost being 'held back', kind of a tough feeling to describe....

 

First, dump the cat man, straight pipe that ****. It will help everything in the end.

My two possibles are BOV and wastegate. Possible that the bov is leaking, could always try a test run with it disabled, or taken out. I assume u have a boost gauge.

Wastegate is most likely your problem, look at the actuator arm to see if everything is check.. use caution when adjusting it.

I am going to go with a hi-flow cat in the future.
As for the bov, should it be leaking at all at idle? I thought there should be some air going in... if not, do I have to crush it to tighten the spring?

For the wastegate, I don't think thats the issue, its relocated in the same position as stock, just moved it over. The spring is on the wastegate arm with a coter pin and there is tension there keeping it closed...
I will look again tomorrow....

Was more concerned with the BOV leaking under boost, no it shouldn't be letting air into the motor under idle.. is it a dsm bov?
