Looks like a Saab manifold, so I'll say the turbo A/R might be .42/.48.

Re: Turbo I.D. Help asap!!! what turbo is this??? PIC!!!

That's not a T3, it's a T25. Let me know what A/R it says on the compressor housing and what A/R it has for an exhaust housing. More than likely it'll be .64 or .68 and isn't the DSM T25. The compressor housing is either a .48 A/R or a .80 A/R and both housings have a slight difference in wheel trim. If it has a .64 A/R exhaus side and a .80 A/R compressor housing then it is the largest of the T25 series and is capable of 32 lbs/min before choking. This same turbo was used on the old Pontiac Grand Prix 3.1 V6.

The .80 A/R compresspr with a 70 trim wheel was used on 1990 + Volvo 740, 760, 940 as well as the 90+ Saab 9000T

EDIT-More than likely it's the .48 A/R compressor housing with the .64 A/R exhaust housing.

T25.

Who knows? You won't know until you recieve it. If you're talking about usable for your engine, of course it will be provided it is in usable condition to begin with. You never mentioned what engine you'll be installing it on so "Is it usable?" is a trick question.

Whether or not your engine can make use of it is more about what goals you're going for in the first place. For a noob with a D series, it'll be fine but will run out of steam far before redline.

Since you asked this question to begin with, I'd say you'll be fine.

No. It IS a T25. You'll have to wait until it arrives to see what compressor housing it has which will dictate which trim the compressor wheel is. From the looks of it, it is a .48 A/R compressor housing.

Maybe if you would have researched it a little more before bidding then you wouldn't have a problem. And I'm not talking about posting a "OMG WTF kind of turbo is this?" thread three hours before the auction ends.

This is nobodies fault but your own. Considering your knowledge of turbos, I'm guessing your tuning skills are about the same. As said, you'll more than likely be fine with a T25 especially with a 70 trim .80 A/R, it it is indeed a 70 trim .80 A/R. (the largest T25)

Holy ---- pal you really need to calm down.First you bitch that no one is answering your post then your bitching about the info you got. ::) It looks just like a T3 that comes off a Saab so I would wait till it arrives before going off on a rant at people.

They did come with a T25 in some of the newer models but I agree that does not look like one.

I actually know what I'm talking about.

Just because a turbo looks like your's doesn't mean ----...

That's probably a T17 or a T25, based on the exhaust manifold, which is DEFINITELY from a late-80s to mid-90s Saab 9000. These were the turbos used on the 9000. You would need to know which car this came from to determine whether it was the smaller of the two.

Depending on the year of the Saab 9000, it may use a T3 or a T25 exhaust flange. If the car was pre-93, it might be a T3. It's it's 93 and newer, T25.

<----- currently owns two Saabs. Former owner of five others...

The dimensions are different. The T3 is squarish, while the T25 is rectangular.

EDIT: Google is your friend...

Dimensions of Exhaust Manifold flanges for Garrett T3 and T25:

The Garrett TB03 mount flange outside dimensions are approx. 90mm x 82mm, with 4 bolt attachment holes, on rectangle 85 mm x 45 mm c/c apart.
A Garrett T25 flange & bolt holes are smaller, mount flange is approx 92mm x 62mm, with 4 bolt attachment holes, on rectangle 72 mm x 40 mm c/c apart.

Re: Turbo I.D. Help asap!!! what turbo is this??? PIC!!!

i have a turbo laying around, looks exactly like yours, and i'm having the same doubts. I'm pretty sure its a t25 from saab, i got mine from 91-92 i think. Anyway i ordered a t25 flange, so i'll let you know if it fits.

podxvost1 03-08-2006 01:07 PM

Re: Turbo I.D. Help asap!!! what turbo is this??? PIC!!!

the A/R is .48/.49

Re: Turbo I.D. Help asap!!! what turbo is this??? PIC!!!

Is the compressor housing a .48 or .80 A/R? The 60 trim can come with either a .48 or .80 compressor housing but the 70 trim that I was referring to has a .80 A/R compressor housing with a .68 A/R exhaust housing. If your turbo has a .48 or .80 A/R compressor housing and a .64 A/R exhaust housing then it will have a 60 trim compressor wheel.

well i don A/R is b/c i havnt recived the tubo yet...but do u know what the wastegate is set at?

podxvost1 03-09-2006 06:15 PM

Re: Turbo I.D. Help asap!!! what turbo is this??? PIC!!!

Well, as i mentioned before the a/r is .48/.49 The wastegate is set to 7psi, but dont quote me on this.

Re: Turbo I.D. Help asap!!! what turbo is this??? PIC!!!

That is a Saab manifold, and a T3 .48 exh .42 compressor IIRC.
Known as the "T3 45 trim"

Wait till you have it and can measure the flange.

Exactly. Unless you know the specific year and model it came from, there's no way to tell. At one point, Saab used three different turbos in the 9000 and 900, two different Garretts and a Mitsu.

The info I posted above should help you narrow it down.

i belive that it came from a saab 9000CD but im not sure of the year.... ill tell u for sure whden i get home.

where did u buy the adapter plate? can you give me a link?

Re: Turbo I.D. Help asap!!! what turbo is this??? PIC!!!

They are one of the sponsors on HMT. http://www.bmcrace.com/products/flanges/ T25 Garrett Turbine Inlet
(not DSM)W/8-1.25MM Threaded Bolt Holes . My turbo has the treaded bolts on it, so i'm goona have to dril the threads out from the flange. Ask them if they make one w/out the threaded bolt holes.

podxvost1 03-10-2006 06:19 PM

Re: Turbo I.D. Help asap!!! what turbo is this??? PIC!!!

Also i'm using the DIY log mani from tunertoys, and they only had one with a T3 flange, but sold it to me for 20$less w/out the flange. So i'm not using the adapter plate, but bmcrace.com might have it. just depends what mani u got.
