turbo/engine back fires
 
when im driving and i release the gas but leave it in gear to slow down or downshift the car sometimes back fires, :-\ what could it be ?

mine does it all the time even when it wasnt turbo'd its fine nothing to worry about....you see any flames come out? its happend once before when i was running really rich and i had no cat

ahh dont worry as long as you dont backfire from your intake manifold is cool

My friend did that, and he upgraded his ignition and it stopped?? maybe try some colder plugs if you havent and get a stronger coil or something? Just some ideals

unless your timing belt skipped a tooth for whatever reason; otherwise it's normal if you know youre rich.

As much as this has it's novelty value, please look into it. Usually timing (like skipping a tooth) plays the part in it.. well from my SOHC experience.

Running rich can have a number of features, but you have to be running uber rich to get constant back feed like that. Look into ignition issues a bit closer, your problem may be simple (well simpler then tuning out that rich run at least).

You run rich, there's unburnt fuel in your exhaust gases, it gets hot in your exhaust pipes and boom/voom. It could be other things, but usually the car is just running rich.

My WRX does that all the time, of course they run way rich from factory, but it's fun to scare old people.
