This is what happens when you don't put a screen on your turbo

Then it's just a matter of time. It happens because something that was bigger than the gap in the fins got in there and pwned the compressor wheel. One of my friends turbos had the nut that holds the compressor wheel on come off some how and it made hella noise when he made boost, but was quiet at idle. We pulled the intake off, and it looked a lot like Loudnproud's picture. I'd do the same, take a look at the compressor wheel and if the fins look normal I wouldn't worry about. Not like there's much you could do if there was some other problem.

bud of mine sucked his screen into the turbo while i was tuning it on the dyno. car just hiccup'd like it was getting detonation, checked the maps and datalog and everything was fine. found out the screen was missing :P

pulled the charge pipe off the hot side of the IC and there is was, all mangled up in the fins. turbo was just fine though

so it has been about 2400 miles, and the turbo still makes noise, still makes boost at the requested boost areas.

performance is still the same.

so what does this mean?
