Have you tried driving around without boosting to see if it stays at an ok temp?

That happened to me a while back, and as soon as I would boost a couple times the temp gauge would go up. A set of ARP head studs and a new headgasket fixed the problem.

No/little pressure in a hot radiator is your problem.

- bad cap
- bad headgasket

I would do a compression test to see if there is any obvious head gasket problem.

I might also suspect the water temp gauge is bad. If you can, hook your OEM gauge back up to see if it reads high or normal.

I don't quite understand how at 250 degrees you arent getting any boiling.

I'd LOVE to get my OEM Temperature Sensor working again. If anyone has had some experience with troubleshooting them, PLEASE let me know. I really hate having extra gauges in my car, especially autometer.

I changed out the actual temperature sensor with another one I had. It did nothing. I have the autometer hooked up to that sensor directly. I checked all fuses to my OEM temp sensor but didn't find ay blown fuses. Does anyone know where the fuse is for the Temp sensor because I only checked under the steering wheel.

If anyone can shed some light on fixing my OEM temp sensor, I'd be a very happy man. I trust the OEM honda temp sensor over any after market sensor any day.

One wire female butt connector under the dist cap, goes to the one prong sensor. If you ground the wire the gauge goes full hot - this will allow you to troubleshoot the wiring/gauge side of things. After that, swap in another sending unit from any 88+ Honduh and you're good to go.

coolant can get well over 210F without boiling because pressure its under increases its boiling point. by opening the cap and releasing any pressure that is in there while its hot is a bad idea, 1. hot water can shoot out and burn the ---- out of you, and 2. if the water temp is over 210 it will then boil. If you take off the rad. cap when the coolant is hot (not that I suggest it) there should be some pressure under the cap. Make sure you're fan is working that will def. cause it to overheat, i've seen people destroy motors because of somthing as simple as a 10 cent fuse had blown causing the fan to stop and the motor overheating.

Yes. I am using the OEM honda temperature sensor connected directly to the Autometer tamperature Gauge. Is this not the right way to do it?

holy ----. thats probobly your problem. i cant imagine they are calibrated the same
