Turbo CR-V

Turbo CR-V
My wife is entertaining the idea of letting me boost her 2001 CR-V (4WD, Automatic). I'm going for a low-power minimalist setup.
The car is mint so I would get a PS/AC compatible B series manifold and probably just a T-25 (or even smaller) turbo. She just wants more low-end torque, not a speed demon.
Because I'm going for a minimal amount of parts, I'm considering using an FMU and Walbro 190HP, colder plugs and a sidemount. Do you think timing control (a 'la BTM) is worth considering or would it be overkill or would running a high-rate FPR be good enough at supressing detonation? Of course we'd be running 93 octane full-time.
Isn't it true with the ODB2's that you can't manually set the base-timing or is that a midunderstanding on my part?
I don't believe CROME/Uber would be a possibility because it's an automatic.

Re: Turbo CR-V
I was having a discussion with ichbinsobose and stenseltizm yesterday about Crome.. yuriy believes it DOES work with automatics, have you seen anywhere that specifically says it doesnt? I've got my autotragic civic back so soon enough Tim and I will be able to try out a chipped auto p06 'converted to p28' and try it out in the civic...
She only looking for like, 4-5 psi then? Sounds like she basically wants turbo without all the extra hassle that come with upping the boost (esp on a b20 and auto)...

Most def, she just wants a little more pickup. We live in the city so it's stop-and-go everywhere.
An extra 30-50hp would do wonders for this thing. Let me know how that automatic situation works out. I havent looked at the CRV much so I don't know if the automatic's kick-down is throttle cable actuated or controlled by the ECU. Also I've not no idea how the 4wd system works but im guessing it's all mechanical. It'd be nice to throw in some 390's, chipped P06 and conversion harness and be done with it.

Re: Turbo CR-V
I`ve seen a few CRv turbo but they are all 5 speeds.
the 4WD system engage only when the front wheel slips, there is a set of wet clutch pack located inside the transfer case controlled by hydrulic pressure. It disengages as soon as the front wheel regain traction. at most of 30% power can be transfered to the rear. Transfer case oil temp is monitored all the time and 4WD is disabled once overheated so boosting it will not be a problem.

Re: Turbo CR-V
might be worth your while to look into getting a supercharger on the crv. It'll cost more yes, but seeing that its your wife's car, it'll be 10 times easier to maintain, less parts, and power is instantaneous. I say superchargers are funner and better for daily drivers, but turbo's of corse for the more spirited vehicles.
