Which turbo came on 2006 Dodge cummins?

Re: Which turbo came on 2006 Dodge cummins?
i was turned off by it because of the 9cm turbine housing, i got a HX35 for the 12cm turbine because i was afraid the 9 would cause too much backpressure in my f22/f20b hybrid.
i was thinking of the HE351 with the HX35 turbine, but one is bolt on, one v-band so that idea was out.
damn i would really like the HX40 compressor, i could have that put on my turbo and balanced but im going for low budget (well pretty much no budget, casue i have no money) so ill stick with what i got.
we all win with the holsets for the low dollar power.

I think the 12cm housing is too restrictive for it as well. You can upgrade the hx35 a couple of ways, htt and gds both make upgrade kits i think htt is about $300 and gds is about $200, the nice thing about this is you get the 7 blade new compressor wheel and backing plate and all that junk, the other way is to find a core HX40 on ebay as long as the compressor wheel isn't damaged, and swap it yourself.

It is an HY35 with an HX40 cold side, with a huge turbine discharge area.

what i prolly will end up doing if i ever get that far is just get a 14cm HX40 and rock that. im going to need bottom end work like pistons and rods before ill ever see the max potential of this turbo. it spools pretty fast right now, and i slightly smaller spool wont really hurt me too much, it already rapes the tires at less than 4500..

No unfortunately the 12cm does not, and to my knowledge no one makes a turbine upgrade for it.
Now as far as straight hx40's most are a T4 flange, and most of the T3 flanged ones are 16cm and bigger. With that being said the center section is the same on hx 35 and 40's so you can mix and match wheels and housings as you see fit.

so a HX40 with the 12cm HX35 turbine housing i have is a possibility....
dammit, and i talked myself into not changing the turbo again for a while, but now knowing that i have a feeling i wont be able to resist trying something new...
just to make myself feel better, ill be able to make more power with less boost and crush my stock f22 bottom even sooner... YAY!
