turbo behind intake manifold?

Re: turbo behind intake manifold?
I like the idea because the oil feed comes from the back of the block anyway.... and the drain would just be on the back side of the pan.... but what about changing the oil filter? I would bead roll all charge pipes under the car where you would not be easliy able to tighten if hoses/clamps come off.
As for remote turbo setups, if you have a vette or something there is litterly no room under the hood.

Re: turbo behind intake manifold?
Sorry for not making a formal introduction for all of you that were offended by it, but I saw a topic that grabbed me and went for it, as for all the ac haters out there some like to be comfortable in the summer when it is 90+ outside. The cooler you can keep the ac system while it is working the better it will perform just the added heat from the turbo next to it will compromise its performance, and as it has been proven by alot of setups sold by the aftermarket you dont have to have turbos mounted directly to the manifold. What is the point of Home Made Turbo. Just found out turbowagonman lives nearby I think this setup needs to be done

I'm guess i'm just not understanding how your going to mount the turbo, factory exhaust manifold with j pipe/ long *** pipe to rear of engine (after you relocate the oil filter), probably have to remove the black pcv system box (dont need it anyway) and finally mount the turbo. I'd probably want to make some sort of support for the turbo, not sure if your planning on running a intercooler but that would be quite interesting to see pluming on that one

Re: turbo behind intake manifold?
with the "j pipe" from the factory manifold to the turbo just make a support hanger like the factory does, ---- you could even resuse the bolt holes from that. and if he really wanted to with that small of a turbo i dont think the oil filter would need to be relocated. that would just be stealthy as ---- right there just like a u bend to the throttle body.
and if its at a conservative boost setting he could prolly get away with no intercooler and meth injection, thats what my roomates doing for a boosted bike hes building.

Re: turbo behind intake manifold?
i would run such remote setup with a water to air cooler. response time would be super quick with only a few inches of ic piping between the compressor and the TB.
if the point is to be stealthy, runing no front mount Intercooler is just as desirable as hiding turbo under the engine.
