turbo aveo?

i was looking in to doing a turbo setup for a friend on his new car (2005 chevy aveo with 100k for only $2500, and it gets 45mpg, kinda gay but a good work/commuter car)

he bought it and immidetly decided that 103hp was not enough especially knowin how much power other 1.6's are putting out so i am just here to ask what size turbo would be good?
i was thinking of an old dsm (like 14b or whatever their called) or one of those $150 t3/t4 ebay knockoffs with an internal wg set at arround 7psi, i know those turbos are kinda small but he is only looking for about 180whp (now it's arround 70-75whp) and he really dosen't want to go above about 10-12psi and is not going to build the engine, tho it has new oem pistons and rings about 8k miles ago

also will the maf be able to detect the boost to supply boost up to an ammount like a honda?

and dose anybody know where i might be able to get bigger injectors? (i think stock are like 250cc or so their tiny)

i appriciate the help, and keep in mind with the suggestions it is not intended to be a race car or any thing like that just a little commuter that gets good gas milage and is a pretty decent sleeper

any tips or suggestions would help, but if you are here to jew up the thread because it's an aveo go ---- off

Re: turbo aveo?

here are some things i was looking at (just an idea let me know what you think)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TURBO...7052QQtcZphoto
$139 t3/t4 turbo, it says it's good for 350-375hp i am thinking it sounds good for up to about 250whp on the 1.6L aveo?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-93...9506QQtcZphoto
or somthing like this i is a complete civic d series turbo kit($550), then just sell the manny and build a homemade one (and i will need to make a homemade intake manny tho to because the stocker is plastic and because the throttle body it tiny and kills flow so i was thinking about either trying to find a bigger one or just use on off a different car and making it work with the stock tps) as for the manny i was thinking about just building a log for the exhaust to bolt up the turbo but the dude with the car will probubly want the "blingyness" of a polished ram horn but i don't think there is enough room as it is we will have to throw the battery under the rear seats to get it out of the way

all i am really stuck on is injectors and some way to raise fuel pressure, i was thinking for arround 200whp i will need 393cc or bigger but i think some 450's would be perfect

i was looking at this but was wondering how others are controlling their fuel

I'll Jew it up a little lol! :1 :1

I would say a small 50 trim t3 or a 14b would be a good choice for something like that. I would only get an ebay turbo if it was a LEGITAMITE one or a used one with little shaft play. Engine management might be a bit tricky though. Any room to work with? I do'nt know much about the engine in that car so it may be funky.

We need a mega squirt following, ie more pioneers that can come up with maps for many applications.

i'd hack up a F/IC to work with it, just to keep OBD-II, i know here in illinois, you still gotta pass the computer test... if emmisions arent a requirement, FMU ftw. :8

Re: turbo aveo?

i have a laptop to tune a stand alone but is it worth the money for just arround 180-200hp?
or would i be better to just try to find an ecotec 2.2 or 2.4 and throw it in there and have like 150-175hp?

as for the emissions i don't know as it is a friends and he lives in annother county, some make you some don't

also if anyone could give me some tips for getting it goin and boosting then go for power after that

and dose anyone know where i might be able to find a header flange for the aveo's e-tec 2 engine or if there are any ss autoshity headers laying arround i can jew up in to a turbo manny?

Daily drive the Aveo and buy a weekender to play with. If you add power or do a motor swap it'll be unreliable and get worse mpg which is what the car is meant for. I'd love to have an Aveo for a daily driver as it doesn't get much better mpg wise. Modding it would make it just another unreliable project car. IMO there are better platforms to spend time and $ on.
