Turbo advice Holset hx35 or hy35
This is related to the accord build I posted about a few weeks ago. We put the head back on and found out it needed a new clutch. So far here is what we got
F23a1 SOHC vtec accord
Stock internals, slightly milled head and ARP head studs.
New OEM rod bearings and rings just for ***** and giggles with slightly honed block.
That’s about it. Car had 65k on it when it blew the head gasket, The plan is as follows for 200whp daily and 300WHPon the track or out ricing
Holset hx35 or hy35
Walbro 255 Pump
Stock internals.
Prelude H23 tranny with lsd or stock tranny with obx lsd
Huge ------- injectors 750+cc
Custom ramhorn mani
JRC 8” ic
2.5” ic piping and 3” down pipe with 3”exhaust, High flow cat and Flowmaster/ magnaflow 3” muffler
OBD I conversion with P28 and may-be ethanol
Alright people. Discuss, I’ve done some research and this is what I came up with on the
HY-35 - they have a single undivided T3 flange 9 cm^2 exhaust housing that works out closer to a .48 A/R
HX-35 - 12 cm^2 ~= .63 AR, 16 cm^2 ~= .82AR
^^^^^is this even ture?
What would spool time be for this baby? I know they are designed to run 20+psi on the diesels so top end shouldn’t be a problem or should I just day ---- it and go for the big boy? Looking for a streetable car with spool time around 4K

Re: Turbo advice Holset hx35 or hy35
from what i read from the web any one of these turbos are capable of supporting 300whp+ they are more efficent at 15+psi and they run around 20 psi stock on the disels. These ******* are huge somebody here made 230whp on a d16 with a hy35 https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...2527.msg488955 and 10psi. He said it spooled by 4500rpm.
Im thinking spool time should be around 4K on an f23 so im just going to go with the Y35 since there is no way in hell im blowing another engine going for morethan 300hp

Re: Turbo advice Holset hx35 or hy35
.48 AR on a holset does not equal .48 AR on a sabb t3 right, so what would be the max out on the HY35 running i dont know 15 psi? It pushes around 200 hp on the engine it came off but thats a disel so it doesnt mean much the engine it came off is a 5.0 v6 though if i am correct.
