Ok so Iwas reading Jeff's "Built ZC" part of this website, and I was wondering if anyone can tell me why his old 300zx turbo is too small. How much boost does it push? I know it would be too small for serious power increases, but what about for someone who just wants a nice little increase for the daily driver? Is it a Garrett turbo? If I found one and wanted to put it on my civic, would it be a waste of time?

 

hp is to psi like cfm is to torque.

its not how many psi the turbo can put out its how many cfm's of air itll move at that pressure.

the 300zx would seem fine on your ZC if your just street beating, and not fully racing it.

 

the turbo is a garret T25 , im not sure how much they will boost but i know stock they are 9psi.

 

Depends on what year the 300zx is, some are T3's.

well I am looking for only like 7psi, so I would like as small of a turbo as i can get so that I don't have any boost get away from me. T25 sounds good... also internal wastegate seems lower than the T25 on a DSM.

 

any junkyard turbo will push your 7psi fine man. even a little snail.

 

That turbo I used wasnt a 300zx USDM turbo... it was a JDM VG30DET turbo, but it was incredibly small, .42/.48
