tuned, but low numbers???

b16 stock
t3/t04 garrett 50 trim. a/r .42/.50
38mm wastegate
meutek manifold
2.5" to 3" dp w/ 3" exhaust - hi flow cat(magna flow)
tune at 10 psi
no dumptube
450cc dsm w/ resistor box

look at the graph link--- http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...ageID=12175133

the numbers are low for b16.
what can be wrong? any body?

the tuner say its too much backpressure.... which is the cat that cause it.
also i don't have the dumptube running down the engine bay.

Re: tuned, but low numbers???

wtf?

boost psi?

you dont have the dumptube running where?

those a/rs are small for a revving engine like a b16 in my opinion.

there are alot of different things that could cause that.

i dont know what the ---- they are, but i do know that it would be easier for people to answer if you had a more detailed description of what you are running.

Re: tuned, but low numbers???

Create a dump tube and find a better tuner.
Make sure that the valves and the timing is adjusted properly too.

retune

all of the above and that turbo makes more heat on my ls O0

so you ran this turbo before?
what kind of numbers did you make?

so i need to re route the dumptube
change cat into test pipe
the timing is change by the tuner

Just looking at the graph I would agree, that turbo supports more power than that, so its not like the turbo should be falling off its compressor map.

most likely a combo of a clogged cat (if its clogged) and the dumptube exhausting hot exhaust right back into the compressor of the turbo.

sounds like you have a fine tuner...fix your issues and bring it back to him. it's not his fault you brought him what you did.

torque is through the roof for a b16

yea, i'm going to do that. I just want to get your opinion on it too.

Re: tuned, but low numbers???

is it intercooled?
toss the Catalytic converter.. run open dp, faggot >:D
fix the dump tube
check your cam timing

any Check engine lights?

you should be making 230-300 whp at a 10 psi tune on stock b16a

its intercooled
will toss the cat and run test pipe 3"
will fix dump tube
tuner checked the timing- seems good
no check engine lights

tuner say 230- sounds goods lol

Re: tuned, but low numbers???

wow look at the TQ failing.

get that hot exhaust gas out of your engine bay, remove the cat, and retry.

Re: tuned, but low numbers???

lol, the torque curve is more like a torque mountain with cliffs on both sides.

MustangC. 12-08-2008 07:23 PM

Re: tuned, but low numbers???

yeah that torque is good at peak. the reason the power is so low is because the torque falls off so hard after peak. id like to see the timing tables on that one. the cat i most likely a large problem but you have other issues to lose almost 70ft/lbs between 5700ish-8K.

if you can get that thing to hold torque flat to redline it should make 240ish

Re: tuned, but low numbers???

Just try open down pipe on the street, let it rip once or twice. If it pulls good on the top end, then the cat was your problem.
Definitely need dump tube though.

Re: tuned, but low numbers???

---- that. I run open down pipe on the daily. Turbo is a good enough muffler for me. And for some reason I like the fumes. :)

Re: tuned, but low numbers???

that looks like a VW dyno sheet, lol

Tq righttt up there with HP, lol

but did u try just dropping the exhaust b4 the Cat? <~ this way if thats not the issue u don't have to get rid of the "hi-flow" cat.( or is it welded straight back?)

and that dump tube will deff hurt power, i have seen cars make up to 20whp more justt by having it dump away from the turbo.

goodluck with your re-tune!

Put a flange on that ----. I love V-bands!!

EZ to drop a section..

check out this site!! www.siliconeintakes.com

they have t-bolt clamps for $2.60 a clamp ( any shop will have for at leasttt $5-$10 a clamp.)..

and V-band kits for $30 ( thats the 2 flanges and the clamp). i see them for up to $60 at local shops.

they ship and get to your door in 3 days. :)
