Default Tips: Mods for getting a little more out of your turbo & How to lean out.

This really wont help anyone but the new people.

As some of the turbos have the wastegate port right off the turbo. This is ok, but if your running an intercooler your gonna loose some pressure. A quick fix is to tap your intake manifold like the cruise control port and send a line to your wastegate. Then plug up the old port on the turbo. This will let your wastegate actually activate at the same boost as your gauge.

Leaning out. I been running blood rich for a long time. No one had any ideas on how to lean out the ride without adjusting the controller. Well what I came but with is to put the Air temp sensor before of the intercooler. This should read the hot air before cool and give you a slightly learner mix.

Correct me if I'm wrong on these.

Nick

so you mean, if I disconnect the vacuum line from the internal wastegate actuator to the little nipple on the blower, and run a vacuum line from the IM to the actuator, I will see more boost? hmmm...

Onin.. yep thats right. Another trick that is suppose to help spool on shifts is to put the bov on the turbo side of the intercooler so that the higher pressure air on that side releases first.

I see...THANKS!!! I finally got everything all hooked up and NO LEAKS...took me a while to do it...anyhow, when I went for a rip I lost like 2-3 psi. But i'll hook the vacuum lines in the different way this weekend, and see if that bumps me back up.

about the BOV relocation....I have anoutomatic tranny, will that affect the theories of the "trick" at all?

what are you using for fuel management? i dont think you should just 'make it leaner' as you dont know by how much and at what ranges. do it the right way. but do as a say, not as i do :P

ONIN- The bov trick was more for people building the setup and not ones who already have it done. I don't know that it provides much of a benifit but every little bit helps. I would imagine anytime you lift and get back into the throttle quickly it would help.. Mostly during spirited driving when you come across a turn.
